Tram Heritage Day & Carbarn Tours
The fourth Sunday of the month in Autumn and Spring is Tram Heritage Day at Whiteman Park. On this day we throw open our Car Barn and workshops complex, and welcome visitors for a behind-the-scenes glimpse of how an electric tramway operates.
Ride down to the Car Barn on restored Tram 66, Perth's last tram, or Fremantle tram 29. Other historic trams from Perth, Fremantle and Kalgoorlie are on display — see what they look like before our restorers get to work!

The tour includes
- inspection of the workshop facilities and equipment used to maintain and restore electric trams;
- current restoration activities;
- a presentation on the tramway history of Western Australia in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries;
- historical photographs from the Society's collection.
Books and souvenirs are available for sale.
If you or a family member have any tramway memories or memorabilia to share on Tram Heritage Day, we would love to hear from you.
